Domaine Long-Depaquit, with a legacy dating back centuries, is renowned for its commitment to crafting exceptional Chablis wines. Nestled in the heart of Chablis, they benefit from a sustainable approach to viticulture. Limiting yields and keeping interventions to a minimum during the vinification process help create authentic, mineral, elegant wines. Barrel aging is used in moderation to best preserve the expression of each terroir.
The “Les Lys” Premier Cru vineyard is located on the left bank of the Serein River, overlooking the villages of Chablis and Milly. Its unusual exposure (east/northeast) contributes to this wine's expressiveness. The proportion of clay in the soil is also higher than usual in Chablis, which overlies the Kimmeridgian sub-stratum that Chablis is famous for. This area is cool and the grapes ripen slowly and gradually in the afternoon shade. Exposure and terroir guarantee the minerality, finesse and elegance of this Premier Cru.
The nose boasts distinct notes of white flowers ("Lys" is French for lily) and citrus fruit. The palate is elegant and fine with a refreshing maritime note that is typical of the Chablis appellation. Beautiful, long-lasting finish with a fleeting tinge of acidity. A fantastic match with sushi or seafood ceviche, alternatively a creamy goat's cheese would be incredible.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
