Vincent Girardin, hailing from Santenay in the Côte de Beaune, belongs to a longstanding winemaking lineage dating back to the 17th century. Presently, the Domaine encompasses 22 hectares (approximately 50 acres), comprising 42 parcels spread across 8 villages in the heart of Burgundy's Côte de Beaune region.
This Chassagne-Montrachet is meticulously crafted from vines aged over 55 years old, situated in an east-south-east facing location nestled between Puligny-Montrachet and Santenay. Following harvest, the wine undergoes a 15-month maturation process in 500-litre barrels, with only 10% being new oak, and without battonage, before finally being bottled.
This Burgundy exudes power and textural richness, unveiling captivating notes of toasted almonds, ripe apple, melted butter, and honey. Its finish is impressively long and succulent, characterized by a fine acidity and a distinct mineral backbone. Ideally paired with roasted chicken, salmon, or a creamy risotto, this wine promises an exquisite gastronomic experience.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
