The Chateau Saransot-Dupre is a Cru Bourgeois Superieur in Listrac-Medoc. The lesser known Listrac appellation is close to Marguax and the best wines, like this, show the lovely perfumed fruit associated with that esteemed terroir.
The 2019 is predominantly Merlot, with small portions each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The ripeness of this warm vintage shows through in the generous fruit and smooth tannins of this classic claret. A nose of black raspberry and plum fruit is complemented by oak notes of liquorice and tobacco. The estate suggests this ages nicely up to 20 years but the fruit is so wonderfully expressive that it is drinking beautifully already, especially with roasted meat or mushrooms.

Sourcing Stock
Henry and Team managed to locate some difficult to find American wine which they kindly offered and I gratefully accepted. They truly differentiate by being able to surprise by sourcing stock very much outside the run of the mill.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
