The 2023 Domaine Coudert Fleurie Clos de la Roilette in magnum is a beautiful wine in big bottles! Deep ruby in colour with youthful purple hues. The nose is expressive and refined, offering ripe red and black berries, violets, and a touch of graphite and spice.
On the palate it’s medium-bodied but firm for a Fleurie, with juicy cherry and raspberry fruit supported by fine, structured tannins and a subtle mineral edge. There’s a savoury undercurrent of liquorice and earth that adds depth and complexity.
The finish is long, fresh, and slightly chewy, promising good development over the next decade, especially in magnum. Airing or a short decant helps it open fully, and it pairs beautifully with roast duck, charcuterie, or mushroom dishes.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
