In 2006 Jonathon established The Hesketh Wine Company, to produce wines that reflect the family’s history in the wine industry. With vineyards and connections to growers across Australia they are able to produce a stunning variety of wines and consistently at great prices.
The fruit for this wine was hand-picked to ensure whole bunches remained intact at harvest. Afterward, the grapes were gently destemmed without crushing, allowing for whole-berry fermentation in 2T open vessels. Once fermentation was complete the fruit was immediately pressed to preserve the wine's vibrant freshness and capture the sought-after ‘cab-mac’ and musky notes. By separating the berries from the stems early in the process, the winemakers minimized any potential green or stalky flavours often associated with whole-bunch fermentation. The wine then matured for six months in large-format, older oak casks, which enhanced its purity.
In the glass, this wine shows bright purple hues. On the nose, expect floral and highly perfumed aromas with hints of berries and dried leafy spice. The palate is rustic yet refined, featuring juicy red fruits and a crunchy cranberry acidity. It has a fine acid line, glossy tannins, and a persistent, elegant finish.
Overall, this wine offers a light to medium body, making it a perfect choice for those who appreciate balance and finesse.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
