This is a beautifully expressive red from the Upper Douro, made by the Olazabal family at the iconic Quinta do Vale Meão. Sourced from estate vineyards rooted in schist soils and shaped by the Douro’s dramatic climate, this wine captures both the power and elegance that have made Vale Meão one of Portugal’s most respected names. An intriguing blend of native varieties; Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca.
The nose is inviting and aromatic, offering ripe red and black berries, hints of violet, and a touch of Douro spice. On the palate, it is smooth, fresh and finely balanced, with juicy flavours of cherry, blackberry and plum, supported by supple tannins and a lively line of acidity. Subtle notes of herbs and mineral depth add complexity, leading to a clean, polished finish.
A natural match for grilled meats, roasted vegetables, charcuterie or tomato-based dishes.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
