Nals Margreid Schiava Pfeffersburger 2021

Nals Margreid is a winery in the Alto Adige Italy, Nals and Margreid are two vineyard areas. The winery was established as a cooperative in 1932, they source fruit from over 300 trusted growers in the area. The focus is always on quality and being ecologically aware. They have made a name for themselves highlighting local varieties and the differences between the multitude of tiny vineyard sites.

This 100% Schiava is fermented in stainless steel tanks with gentle pumping over, then malolactic fermentation takes place, before the wine is aged for seven months in oak. The result is pale ruby colour with copper highlights, fresh notes of undergrowth, blackberry, blueberry and pepper leaf on the nose and a fresh, juicy, full body with a touch of almond in the finish.

Best served with south Tyrolean hash of meat, potatoes and onions, venison stew.
