Maison Ambroise dates back to the 18th century when only a few parcels had been planted around Nuits-Saint-Georges in Burgundy. Bertrand Ambroise took over the vineyard from his father-in-law in 1987, and is now run by his son and daughter. They have been working on developing the winery`s organic philosophy and were certified by Ecocert in 2013.
A blend of parcels around Nuits, including vines up to 80 years old in Les Fleurieres and Les Maladieres. After a long maceration of around 4 weeks, the wine is pressed to French oak where it ages for 14 months.
A deeply coloured and rich style of Burgundy, with blackberry and black cherry fruit, lots of savoury and exotic spice and a subtle floral character on the nose. Quite voluptuous on the first taste but balanced beautifully by a framework of fine tannins and moreish supporting acidity on the excellently poised finish. This is a Burgundy to pair with robust flavours such as roasted goose, soy-glazed aubergines or mushroom wellington

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
