Passagem is a beautiful 100-hectare estate nestled along the serene riverside banks of the Douro Superior, a renowned sub-region celebrated for making some of Portugal’s best wines. The estate derives its name from an abandoned mountain railway line that runs through its grounds. Owned by the Bergqvist Family, descendants of the Feueheerds, with a legacy in Port production since 1815, Passagem is a joint-venture with acclaimed winemaker Jorge Moreira, twice awarded Portugal's Best Winemaker.
This is a delicious wine from the Douro, made with Touriga Nacional. Grapes are hand-picked from North-West facing vines, ensuring top quality. Bursting with ripe blackberry, juicy wild plum and dark forest fruit greets the nose, punctuated by charming floral notes of violet and lavender. On the palate, it has great depth and an elegant texture, framed by smooth, polished tannins and a subtle spice. Vibrant acidity cuts through the rich red fruit, ensuring a fresh, beautifully balanced and captivating finish.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
