Quinta das Maias Single Estate Tinto is a beautifully expressive red from the Dão, made entirely from estate-grown grapes at altitude in Portugal’s granite-rich heartland. This particuar blend includes Jaen (65%), Touriga Nacional (15%), Alfrocheiro (15%) & Tinta Roriz (5%). The cool mountain climate and traditional vineyard practices give this wine its hallmark freshness.
In the glass, it opens with pure red and black berry aromas, think blackberry, cherry and wild strawberry, layered with subtle notes of violet, dried herbs and cracked pepper. The palate is finely balanced and poised, combining juicy fruit with fresh acidity and gently grippy tannins that lend structure without weight. A mineral edge runs through the wine, leading to a clean, savoury finish with hints of spice and earth.
Ideal with grilled lamb, roast chicken, mushroom dishes, charcuterie or hearty vegetable stews.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
