The Prüm name has been synonymous with top-quality Mosel wines for centuries, with the family cultivating vines here since 1156. The estate spans 15 hectares, including 6 hectares within the prestigious Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard, where some vines date back to 1905. The combination of steep slate slopes, deep underground aquifers, and a unique microclimate allows the Riesling grape to thrive, producing wines of incredible longevity and complexity.
Under Saskia Prüm’s careful stewardship, the estate continues to prioritize organic vineyard practices, avoiding insecticides and using only natural fertilizers. Fermentation occurs predominantly with wild yeasts, and aging takes place in traditional 1,000L oak ‘Fuder’ barrels. These barrels don’t impart oak flavour but allow for gentle micro-oxidation, enhancing texture and depth.
This beautifully expressive Mosel Riesling Kabinett captures the essence of its terroir with a vibrant, juicy character and delicate balance of fruit and acidity. Aromas of citrus, peach skin, and fresh herbs mingle with subtle berry hints, leading into a palate that is off-dry, bursting with ripe stone fruit, crisp minerality, and a refined, stony texture. A touch of salinity and a delicate grip on the finish showcase the influence of the blue slate soils that define this wine’s identity.
Food Pairing: Ideal with spicy Thai green curry, crispy duck with plum sauce, or Asian-inspired salads with coriander and lime.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
