Duncan Savage, previously the winemaker at Cape Point Vineyards, introduced his own label in 2011 with a goal to produce rock-solid, classic and elegant wines. Through his time at Cape Point, Duncan grew to understand maritime vineyards, which led him to source grapes for Savage wines from maritime and high altitude sites around the Western Cape.
The 2023 White Blend is 76% Sauvignon Blanc and 24% Sémillon, matured in 20% new oak barrels with more malo than the 2022. This has a complex bouquet with beeswax, wild mint and fennel, the Sémillon marrying beautifully with the Sauvignon. The palate is well balanced with a keen line of acidity. Very poised with impressive weight, it dovetails into a pretty, floral finish

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
