The Serra Mãe is made from 100% Castelão, grown on the free-draining, sandy soils West of Palmela in Portugal. It was naturally fermented (no added yeast), and then subsequently aged, in concrete vats.
It's full of cherry and bramble fruits, some green herbs, with a fresh and juicy texture. Its fresh acidity is a perfect match for slow-roast lamb or sausages.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
