Brewed by the historic Tegernsee brewery in Bavaria, this pale lager sticks to classic German traditions, quality malt, noble hops, and clean fermentation. Named after King Max Joseph I, it’s all about balance, precision, and easy drinkability, with that crisp alpine water profile doing a lot of the heavy lifting.
In the glass, it’s fresh and bready with a soft grain sweetness and a gentle floral hop note. Light-bodied and super smooth, it finishes clean and snappy with just a touch of bitterness, refreshing, no fuss, and quietly regal.

Whilst packing up to move internationally a friend died and I needed to organise an emergency case of something luscious to support the wake. This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
