A fresh, easy-drinking style of Chianti Classico from the southern part of the region, near Castel Berardenga, where vineyards sit at around 350–400 metres on rocky clay soils. The grapes come from 25-year-old estate vines at Villa la Pagliaia, alongside its sister estate San Felice. After a short fermentation and skin contact, the wine goes through malolactic fermentation in stainless steel before spending around a year in large Slavonian oak casks.
In the glass it’s bright and fruit-forward, with aromas of ripe cherry, plum and a light floral lift. The palate is lively and juicy, showing redcurrant and bramble fruit with fresh acidity and soft, well-integrated tannins. There’s a gentle hint of black pepper on the finish, adding a little savoury edge.
Overall it’s an approachable, vibrant Chianti with good structure and plenty of drinkable fruit, ideal with spicy pasta, sausages or grilled red meats.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
