Driving up to the picturesque hillside village of Meloisey in the Hautes Côtes, just behind Pommard, you can immediately grasp why this elevated location yields wines with remarkable clarity and freshness. It was in this charming setting that Agnès Paquet, a young and passionate proprietor and winemaker, established her Domaine in the year 2000. Her winemaking journey began with a vineyard in Auxey-Duresses, passed down from her grandparents, where both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay flourish. Alongside these, Agnès crafts delightful and affordable regional wines, as well as excellent examples from Saint-Aubin, Santenay, and Pommard.
The Cuvee Patience takes its name from the long ageing Paquet gives this wine before bottling. A selection of the best fruit from her 'les Hoz' vineyard site which while south-facing benefits from a cool microclimate, this wine is aged 24 months in 350l barrels before 3 months in stainless steel.
Great acidity remains on these whites, giving the vintage a “brighter” feel than hot vintages prior. Alcohol may be a touch higher, though it is balanced with the structure. Riper fruit, of course, with zippy mineral notes and lingering complexity in the finish.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
