Cascina Vèngore unfolds as a natural amphitheater nestled in the heart of Terre Alfieri, a small DOCG that masterfully encapsulates the essence of Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato in Piemonte. This sanctuary of biodiversity, spanning 26 hectares encircling a traditional Piedmontese farmhouse, embraces a 100% organic cultivation ethos.
Founded on a visionary dream, Cascina Vèngore commenced its journey with three indigenous varieties boasting boundless potential: Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Arneis. The vinification methods, adhering to Piedmontese tradition, involve the use of steel, amphora, and large wooden barrels, executed with minimal intervention.
The mission of Lucrezia Povero, a budding vigneron, in collaboration with her sister Maurizia and Letizia, Cascina Vèngore evolves daily, unveiling new expressions of the native land where Lucrezia was born and raised—a place she deliberately chose to call home after exploring the vastness of the world.
This 2021 vintage Barbera reveals enticing aromas of winter spice, and a subtle gamey note. The palate has a textured and flavourful profile without being cumbersome. Delicate tannins mingle with restrained berry fruit that blossoms with decanting. An alluring hint of spice adds complexity without overpowering. Softer than Nebbiolo yet more robust than Pinot Noir, it somehow manages to embody elements of both.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
