Caronne is a 45 ha property lying just to the west of St.Julien, whose neighbours wines are regularly sold for double the price. Planted traditionally with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. François Nony has made many improvements at the property which have gradually brought up the quality of the wines, bringing out the fruit and softening the style without losing the essential character of the wine.
Rich and beautifully balanced, this wine offers a smooth yet supple texture with impressive weight on the palate. Bursting with concentrated flavours of ripe blueberry and blackcurrant, it delivers juicy intensity while staying just short of liqueur-like richness. Subtle oak influence comes through in the softly drying tannins and a gently structured finish, hinting at its aging potential. Bold, complex, and full of energy, this is a wine with plenty to offer right now and the promise to evolve beautifully over time.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
