Michael Cruse came to winemaking from a background in science. In 2008 he set up a winery in Petaluma, CA, where he built a custom grape crushing facility and launched his Champagne inspired Sparkling wine project, Ultramarine. In 2013 he established Cruse Wine Co., to create proudly Californian wines.

The grapes are sourced from the renowned Rorick Vineyard, celebrated for its high-quality fruit. At Cruse Wine Co., winemakers combine modern and traditional techniques to create a balanced and nuanced Chardonnay. Aged for 10 months in 70% neutral French oak barrels, this wine gains complexity and depth. The result is an elegant and powerful wine, with notes of ripe apples, pear, citrus, and a subtle hint of vanilla. A must-try for any Chardonnay enthusiast.

Whilst packing up to move internationally a friend died and I needed to organise an emergency case of something luscious to support the wake. This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
