Nestled amidst the stunning Dentelles de Montmirail, within the charming town of Gigondas, lies a stunning vineyard spanning 260 hectares. Here, the winemakers at La Cave de Gigondas craft a range of renowned wines including Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Beaumes de Venise, as well as Côtes du Rhône, Villages, and IGP varieties. Established in 1956 by a visionary group of winegrowers, initially sought to bottle their production for wider distribution. Today, boasting eighty-three members and representing 15% of the appellation, they cultivate 128 hectares in AOP Gigondas (260 hectares across all AOPs). Their ethos remains rooted in a steadfast commitment to land and community, striving to elevate the reputation of their wines through collaboration with fellow winegrowers, showcasing the unique terroirs surrounding the Dentelles de Montmirail. Reflecting their dedication to sustainability, Gigondas LaCave pioneers renewable energy initiatives, harnessing the abundant sunshine of the region through the installation of photovoltaic panels.
A classic Rhône blend made from 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 10% Mouvedre/Cinsault, it is a deep full-bodied style with a powerful and concentrated nose of black fruits and spice. These aromas lead to a more supple palate of more black fruits with a hint of freshness. This impressive and very drinkable Rhone red is perfect for game dishes and other roasted red meats.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
