Artelium Makers Rosé 2015 (Heritage, February 2024) £38.95 - Artelium is located in the heart of Sussex near to Ditchling, a village with a heritage of arts and crafts. Artelium 2015 Rose is a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier; hand-picked from a single vineyard and skilfully made by celebrated winemaker Dermot Sugrue. This traditional method wine has been aged on the lees for over 48 months. It has an Intense strawberry colour, is bold yet nuanced with a rich depth of red fruit flavours.

Pieropan Soave Classico 2022 (Pesca, September 2023) £19.49 -Pieropan's Soave Classico is a long-time Butler's favourite - a perfectly balanced organic wine from a top producer in the heart of Veneto's classic white wine region. The best Soaves are a medley of zesty lemon peel, white flowers, peaches and almond notes. This wine is the epitome of that style. It offers ripe, rounded fruit and a bouquet of floral aromas but also a delicious mouth-watering freshness, culminating in a clean, pure citrus finish that just goes on and on. 

Moment of Silence 2022 (etch, January 2023) £22.99 - BLANKBottle produces a diverse range of wines that vary from year to year, crafted by renowned winemaker Pieter H. Walser during his explorations through South African vineyards. This exceptional wine exhibits a well-rounded character, showcasing faultless style and flair. Its bouquet boasts aromas of candied lemon, cooked apple, and mango, supported by a mineral core. With its velvety texture and ripe, creamy mouthfeel, it exudes a delightful richness. However, it also possesses a lively freshness that adds zest to its otherwise mellow profile.

Almanova Mencia (Crab Shack, April 2023) £18.50 - Alma das Donas winery is located in the heart of Ribera Sacra, where the Estate farm three hectares of steeply terraced vines. Here, above the river Sil, the grapes can only be hand-harvested from the devilishly steep slopes. The Mencia vines are over 50 years old and here they produce a wine with a pure expression of this native varietal. Elegance and freshness abound in a wine bursting with bright red fruit framed with fine, soft tannins. The finish is long, with a fine minerality adding to the complexity.

Bedoba Saperavi(Wild Flor, January 2024) £18.35 - Made from the Georgian indigenous grape variety Saperavi and partially vinified in traditional qvevri vessels, Bedoba means `Day of Luck’. Winemakers Nugzar Ksovreli and Thierry Fontannaz found inspiration in the history and legacy of the winery’s founders. This wine is dark purple in colour. The nose opens with a powerful savoury-spicy bouquet of blackberries, herbs, flowers and black pepper. The palate has a creamy, juicy texture, ripe tannins and black fruit flavours. A warming style from an ancient wine producing region.

Chateu Noalillac 2016 (Etch, September 2023) £18.99 -Winemaker Damien Pages is a bit of a rising star in the region! You’ll find his vineyards in the most northerly part of the Medoc – a part of Bordeaux that is just now being rediscovered for its ability to produce excellent wines.Merlot 55%, Cabernet Sauvignon 40%, Petit Verdot 5%. One of the greatest from this producer, a fine elegant wine with pure red fruits, ripe blackcurrant and mulberry flavours over toasty cedar, earth and spice nuances with great length. A top example of entry level Bordeaux that delivers fantastic value.
