It's a great example of a terroir-focused style from Bodegas Artadi, a producer known for moving away from traditional Rioja classifications to highlight individual vineyard sites.
Sourced from a single plot in Laguardia in Rioja Alavesa, the wine is made from 100% Tempranillo and farmed organically on clay-limestone soils, which really shows in its sense of purity and structure.
Now with a few years of age, the 2018 is starting to hit a lovely point where the vibrant cassis and blueberry fruit is still very much alive, but beginning to soften into more savoury, slightly earthy and spicy notes.
It feels elegant and fresh rather than heavy, with fine, velvety tannins and a balanced structure that gives it both immediate drinkability and the ability to develop further complexity over time.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
