Driving up to the picturesque hillside village of Meloisey in the Hautes Côtes, just behind Pommard, you can immediately grasp why this elevated location yields wines with remarkable clarity and freshness. It was in this charming setting that Agnès Paquet, a young and passionate proprietor and winemaker, established her Domaine in the year 2000. Her winemaking journey began with a vineyard in Auxey-Duresses, passed down from her grandparents, where both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay flourish. Alongside these, Agnès crafts delightful and affordable regional wines, as well as excellent examples from Saint-Aubin, Santenay, and Pommard.
From Agnes' original plot in Auxey-Duresses, this is the signature red wine of the estate. Vines up to 70 years old provide uncommon concentration for a village wine from Auxey. Part of the wine is vinifies as whole clusters, giving lovely floral aromas and silky texture. The wine delivers lots of bright red cherry and raspberry aroma, with hints of violet and lily. On the palate it is fine and persistent, with soft tannins and a delicious seam of red berry acidity. An extremely charming red burgundy that would sing with roast chicken or pheasant.

Not only did their wonderful team organise and deliver within an incredibly tight deadline they drafted a message for me too which I approved. Wonderful!!

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
