Château Sociando-Mallet is one of the great overachievers of the Médoc, a benchmark estate that consistently delivers classically structured, cellar-worthy Bordeaux. Perched on a gravel ridge overlooking the Gironde estuary, the estate’s old vines and meticulous winemaking bring remarkable depth and precision to every vintage.
The 2011 vintage is a testament to their ability to produce excellence even in more challenging years. A blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and a touch of Cabernet Franc, it reveals an inviting bouquet of cassis, black cherry, cedar, and graphite, intertwined with savoury notes of tobacco and earthy spice. The palate is medium-bodied yet impressively concentrated, with fine, firm tannins and a vibrant freshness that carries the flavours through to a long, poised finish.
Now beautifully mature, with tons of Left Bank character. Elegant, complex, and perfectly balanced it’s drinking superbly now but will hold for several more years. Ideal with roast beef, game, or aged Comté cheese.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
