Volnay Vieilles Vignes Vincent Girardin 2019

Vincent Girardin, hailing from Santenay in the Côte de Beaune, belongs to a longstanding winemaking lineage dating back to the 17th century. Presently, the Domaine encompasses 22 hectares (approximately 50 acres), comprising 42 parcels spread across 8 villages in the heart of Burgundy's Côte de Beaune region.

Harvesting is carried out meticulously by hand, with grapes undergoing two rounds of sorting - first during picking and then on the sorting table. Partial destemming is followed by potential additional sorting using an optical machine if required. Subsequently, the grapes are placed in stainless steel thermo-regulated tanks to kick off fermentation, often kickstarted by natural yeasts present within the grape berries over a span of about three weeks. Gentle pumping-over of the must and delicate crushing ensure utmost care is taken to preserve the wine's purity and essence.

Volnay, a quintessential expression of Burgundy, embodies refinement, delicacy, and elegance. Exhibiting a ruby hue with hints of garnet, it releases aromas reminiscent of violet, redcurrant, and cherry in its youth, evolving with age to unveil layers of spices and cooked prune. On the palate, it strikes a balance between freshness and warmth, inviting you in with every sip.
