Westwell can be found just beneath the Pilgrims Way on the North Downs in Kent, a historic route frequented by pilgrims journeying to Canterbury. The estate cultivates four distinct grape varieties - Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Ortega.
The estate enjoys an optimal blend of climate, aspect, and soil. With six classified soil geologies, each variety is strategically planted to complement these factors. All wines are meticulously crafted on-site from the estate's own fruit, affording complete control over the entire process. The future holds promise for Westwell, with a commitment to experimentation, exploring techniques such as skin contact, dessert wines, wild ferments, amphora, pet nats, and more, all while minimizing intervention at every stage.
The guiding philosophy at Westwell is straightforward: cultivate with care, respect the soil, and craft exceptional, honest wines from exceptional fruit.
Blended in May 2020, comprising 40% Pinot Noir, 35% Pinot Meunier, and 25% Chardonnay, including 20% reserve wines from 2014-2018.
The wine reveals a nose of yellow apple, pear, and apricot, while the palate offers ripe red apple and lemon sherbet. Ideal food pairings include oysters for traditionalists or Monster Munch for a more unorthodox pairing. Marked by discreet complexity and a soothing texture, this astonishingly pretty wine boasts beautiful purity and exquisite balance.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
